Roger Taylor is a British musician known as the drummer for the rock band Queen. Taylor was born in 1949 in London, England.

Roger Meddows Taylor was born on 26 July 1949 at West Norfolk and Lynn Hospital in King's Lynn, Norfolk. The new maternity ward was opened by Princess Elizabeth (the future queen, Elizabeth II), where she was introduced to 16 new mothers including Winifred Taylor, his mother. Taylor first lived at 87 High Street in King's Lynn and later moved to Beulah Street in the town. Taylor's first school was Rosebury Avenue school. Taylor moved to Truro, Cornwall, in south west England, with his mother Winifred, father Michael and younger sister Clare. When he was seven years old, he and some friends formed his first band, the Bubblingover Boys, in which he played the ukulele. He briefly attended Truro Cathedral School; at the age of 13, he joined Truro School as a day boy.

At the age of 15, Taylor became a member of the Reaction, a semi-professional rock band formed mainly of boys from Truro School. Taylor had originally learned guitar, but became a drummer when he realised he had a more natural aptitude for it. Taylor taught himself to tune his drums, inspired by Keith Moon of the Who because of the "great drum sounds" on the early Who records. Another key influence on Taylor was Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, who Taylor stated was his early role model.

In 1967, Taylor went to London to study dentistry at the London Hospital Medical College, but he became bored with it and changed to biology obtaining a BSc at East London Polytechnic.

Did you know? As a child, Roger was accidentally shot with a pellet gun. Roger's father was considered “eccentric” for doing things like walking on cliffs when he was sad, when he was nervous he would ride his motorbike in the garden and get hurt all over. Roger was very fragile as a child, and could walk off the rugby field white and shaking, which his friends found amusing. When he was a teenager, Roger's parents divorced. At 16, Roger crashed his group's van into a fish truck due to fog. One of his friends got seriously hurt. The problem went unresolved for years until Queen was formed! Apparently, Roger didn't learn to swim until he was 22. They say he was afraid of sinking. Roger is afraid of spiders. Roger's Ferrari caught engine fire in France 1978. Roger was drunk when recording the video for Who Wants to Live Forever. Roger has three greenhouses at his home in Surrey. Roger's son, Felix Luther, was born two months premature and weighing just 919 grams. In 1989 Roger threw a brilliant party to celebrate his 40th birthday. The invitation said: “Rock until you drop” and it was a “school days” themed party. A thousand guests were dressed up. Roger rented two gigantic spotlights, so that at night he could look at the sky from the house. He would have to have special permission from the British aviation authorities to use them (to ensure that no aircraft thought they were airport lights or anything else). They wandered back and forth across the sky – and caused great chaos! People living nearby and anywhere within 25 miles could see the lights sweeping across the sky, and many thought they were UFOs. There was a rush of people driving behind the lights all over Surrey and Hampshire to see “the aliens descend”! Police in the county were jammed with calls about the mysterious lights, and cars drove up to Roger's house, drove past it, and watched the lights! The event made the front page the next day in the newspapers. Roger's little toes are chubby and weird (Random person editing this, but why include a fact about Rogers feet?? Also, how do you know??). Roger has never had a real job in his life. We all know that Roger has been wearing a beard lately, but he also grew it in 1969/1970 because people mistook him on the street for a woman.
