John Deacon is a British musician, known as the former bass guitarist of the rock band Queen. Deacon was born in 1951 in Leicester, England.

Deacon joined Queen in 1971 after a number of other bassists didn't fit the band's style of music. He was a member of the band for 26 years, writing one song per album. After Freddie Mercury died in 1991, Deacon performed with Brian May and Roger Taylor infrequently before he retired six years later in 1997.
